What I needed to do was create a logo for the design theatre, using Ottoman Culture. I didn't know what Ottoman culture was so I researched into what it was.
The culture of the Ottoman Empire evolved over several centuries as the ruling administration of the Turks absorbed, adapted and modified the cultures of conquered lands and their peoples. There was a strong influence from the customs and languages of Islamicsocieties, notably Arabic, while Persian culture had a significant contribution through the heavily Persianized regime of the Seljuq Turks, the Ottomans' predecessors.[citation needed]Throughout its history, the Ottoman Empire had substantial subject populations ofByzantine Greeks, Armenians, Jews and Assyrians, who were allowed a certain amount of autonomy under the confessional millet system of Ottoman government, and whose distinctive cultures enriched that of the Ottoman state.
As the early Ottoman Turks drove the Byzantine administration from Anatolia, later pursuing them into Europe, it was perceived as part of the Jihad (struggle) against the Christians: the first Ottoman rulers called themselves Gazi, or Warriors. However, as the Ottomans moved further west and the assimilation of the Greek and Balkan populations progressed, the Turkic and Persian-Arabic-Greek influenced culture of its leaders itself absorbed some of the culture of the conquered peoples.

As the brief was finishing soon, It didn't give me a lot of time to research and design as much as I would normally do. However the fact that it was done relatively quick I am in fact happy with the outcome.

As the brief asked for pastel colours I used the pastel swatch in illustrator to choose the colours, Below is the logo I first started with, I experimented with various colours, even though i know that the green and blue do not work well together, the imager and shape of the pattern doesn't work, the aesthetics of the image are sloppy. I decided to go for a more intricate pattern.
My designs
Below are the final two logos I submitted, as you can see they are pretty much the same however one has a background and the other doesn't.
